James took on Arkleston with his Aunt, Janet Brown, nee Crawford. Janet managed it after the death of her husband, James (jnr) and that continued until her death in 1905 where James is seen managing it. He sold the farm in 1906 and then left with his young family to Drummond, in Southland and farmed in the district.
His father, David visited with him in 1923, but sadly drowned in Bluff Harbour.

Jessie Williams lived in Wainoni Road where the petrol station stands today. The office at the station was once her home. Jessie was a daughter of John and Edith Kerr who are also buried in the graveyard and was thus a grand-daughter of New Brighton pioneers Peter Kerr and David Wilson Hamilton
Jessie Francis Williams , 84, died on 9 July 1964.
Two of Jessies sons are buried not far from their mother. In grave 268 there is George Williams , 67, who died on 20 March 1969. Maitland Hamilton Williams, 62, died on 1 May 1970 and is buried in grave No. 288. On his stone there is a symbol in the shape of a horseshoe, demonstrating that he was, like other Kerrs, passionate about horse racing.

John Barry Fenton was just 15 when he joined the New Zealand Navy in 1949. When the Korean War broke out the next year, Fenton was part of the crew aboard the frigate HMNZS Pukaki, as it headed north for patrol duties. He describes the monotony of shipboard life in a war mostly fought on land. Returning to New Zealand, Fenton undertook further training before returning to Korea for a second tour of duty, this time aboard HMNZS Hawea. The ship mainly patrolled the area around the mouth of the Han River, to stop enemy ships entering or leaving. Fenton died on 17 April 2019. | FENTON, John Barry (I29996)

John Kerr survives in a pen picture drawn by his nephew, Professor David Charles Hamilton Florance:
My uncle John Kerr - otherwise the Big fellow - was a very big Viking; hairy-chested, a reddish spade beard, magnificent as he guided his team of horses along the furrows; a man bursting with vitality except when horse and sulky brought him home from the Bower (Hotel).
Cremated at Bromley Crematorium
