• Notes

  On the death certificates of the three Gutschlag boys they list their mother as Christina Vietzens or similar spelling. However after looking at the German records it appears her name was Justine Wilhelmina Vietzens. This was how she was listed on the four christening records I found and her second marriage to Gottfrieds brother. Family stories tell us that Justine married her brother in law after Gottfried died in 1861. I found her remarriage to Carl August Gutschlag, son of Carl Gutschlag 13 May 1866. The record states that Justine is the widow of roof tiler/thatcher Gottf, Gutschlag.
