    • Arrived on Christian McAusland, at Bluff, NZ, the 6 Sept 1875

      Last known address was 31 Smith St., Riccarton, Christchurch. This is now Tyne St. This was the Rhodes family house, where Jessie was married to Henry Mauger Rhodes. We visited the address in 2006. Ray Stark in his notes mentions that the house had become a scaffolding contractor, which indeed it had. According to the owner at the time, when they remodelled the house they found various bottle hides - stashes of bottles in odd places.

      With his 3rd son John born at Merryton, James could have possibly been working at the Merryton Colliery.
