Since Margaret's death record does not list her parents this is a guess based on her age in the census' as well as the fact that it was a Whitefield tradition to name the first 2 sons and the first 2 daughter's after the children's grandparents. The first 2 sons were William (for William's dad) and John (Margaret's dad) and the first 2 girls were named Rankine (William's mom) and Janet (Margaret's mom). There is also the use of siblings names as well. William and Margaret had a daughter named Euphemia, who was also a daughter of John and Janet Stark.
