Her father, James Robertson was a sailor and he left his wife and daughter to travel to New Zealand to set up a home for his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth and her mother emigrated to New Zealand in 1865 onboard the ship &#8216;Victory&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stark.gen.nz\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Grace-Robertson-nee-Laurenson-and-Elizabeth-Robertson-1-700x1024.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stark.gen.nz\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Grace-Robertson-nee-Laurenson-and-Elizabeth-Robertson-1-700x1024.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Elizabeth <em>Robertson with her mother Grace Robertson nee Laurenson<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On the 23 Jul 1883 at Hampden, Otago, she married James Dunbar, son of well known Storekeeper, David Dunbar. Sadly, shortly after the arrival of Elizabeth and James&#8217; first child, Betsy, James past away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/collection.culturewaitaki.org.nz\/records\/images\/medium\/826\/152dabbdfaf65dd36eb7b9b99b8c05568d673cd5.jpg\" alt=\"Dunbar &amp; Son, General Merchants Hampden\"\/><figcaption>Collection of the Waitaki Archive. Id 100974<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Other than the photo above as a child, I have not been able to find any other photograph of her or her life. What we do know is that she married twice.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth remarried 5 years later, on the 17 September 1890, to John McBride at Hampden, Otago.
