Robert Watt Brown

Robert inherited his parents’ home on Macandrew Road in Dunedin. Throughout his life, he tried his hands at various skills such as cabinet making, droving and for a period he worked for the Railways.

According to his grandson, Barry, Robert was a keen bird enthusiastic and won cups in 1928, 1930 and 1931 showing birds for the Old English Game Fowl Club.

In 1932 he married Kathleen Woods and settled in Dunedin. Robert saw service in WWI. He was a member of the Forty Second Reinforcements, C Company. Prior to enlisting he worked for James Clark Ltd at Balclutha. Robert passed away relatively young in 1947, and his wife died in 1961. Both are buried at Andersons Bay Cemetery in Dunedin.

They had one child, who is still living, so I will not include any other detail about Robert and Kathleen’s family.
