John arrived at Hedgehope in Southland, New Zealand on the 21 May 1899
Sadly he passed away aged 10 months, on the 23 March 1900 at Gore, Southland, New Zealand. He is buried at Mataura Cemetery in a plot with several other young people of the wider Stark family.
