Marion Brown

Taken circa 1879. Andrew, Marion (nee Brown) and Walt Ramsay. Thanks to Taieri Museum

Lastly, I would like to mention Marion, who did not travel with the family to New Zealand, but instead emigrated to Australia on the ship ‘Garland’ in 1852. Sadly, a son, Andrew, died on the voyage. Marion lived mostly in Victoria and passed away in 1895 in Melbourne.

Andrew’s occupation was ‘miller’ and he worked around Melbourne and its surroundings almost immediately after arriving in Australia. The family lived on the edges of Melbourne city at Emerald Hill among others. Most children would have been born at home and at least 3 did not live past their teens.
