Born on the 7 May 1879, Janet was schooled on the Taieri and remained their her entire life. In 1901, she married James Carrell Renton.
Janet passed in 1950, predeceasing her husband James, who passed in 1953. She is buried in East Taieri Cemetery alongside her grandparents, James and Marion. Also present is her unmarried daughter, Winifred, who died in 1959. James is also buried in East Taieri Cemetery, but in an unmarked grave.
