Alf was born on the 17 February 1875 at Waimea, West Coast, New Zealand. There is little about Alf other than he remained on the Coast and kept mining until the end of his life.
There are however, a few other notable elements through his life and the first one is that he married Margaret Josephine Channings in 1902 and from that union, stemmed 2 children, namely Alfred Edward and and Richard John. From the account given by Alfred jnr, his father and mother divorced when the two children were very young.
I cannot find a divorce record, but Alf never remarried.
The two children though, lead very contrasting lives. The older son, Alfred, died Ernest Albert Cameron and is buried in Waipukurau. Richard became a traffic policeman and his surname was Langman when he died in Dunedin.
Alfred is buried at Orowaiti Cemetery, near Westport, New Zealand
