George was the eldest son of Victor and Eliza, born 27 Feb 1909 at Camerons on the West Coast.
There are no records of his early life on the West Coast, but in his teenage years he attended high school in Christchurch. at the Christchurch Technical College. The college was founded in 1906 and evolved to become the Christchurch Polytech, which was in turn dissolved in 2016.
A number of the speedway magazines of the time highlight George as an upcoming rider in both uphill racing and on the track. He was an apprentice mechanic with Jones Motors Ltd in Christchurch.
Sadly, George met with an unfortunate accident racing at Monica Speedway in Christchurch, which resulted in his death.
