Henry was 3 when he stepped ashore at Lyttelton. He was born on the 27 May 1867 at Frome, Somerset, England.

On the 10 May 1893 at Gebbies Valley, Canterbury, New Zealand – probably his parent’s place – Henry married Jane Mary Ridley. According to their son, Jane was born in NZ but I have found no record of that, but there are compelling English records to suggest she was born in the UK.
Together the couple would have 7 children.
