Ella was born a twin with her sister Myrtle and is therefore the second/third born child of James and Christina. Ella was born on the 12 Jan 1899 at Balfour, Southland, New Zealand.
She attended East Gore School, but it is interesting that her grandmother was given as guardian in both 1907 and 1909.
On the 23 Apr 1919, Ella married William Thomas McNutt at the Presbyterian Church, Mosgiel, Otago, New Zealand.

Between William and Ella, there were 5 children.

In 1946 she married Laurie Callan.
Ella died on the 3 Oct 1963 at Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand, but is buried at Andersons Bay Cemetery in Dunedin, Plot 740, Block 260
Laurie Callan passed away in 1981 and is buried in Wellington at Whenua Tapu Cemetery
