Alfred was pursuing the role of Creamery Manager. Jessie took on the role of Postmaster in the settlement. Their youngest son, Walter, was born there, with all the others arriving in Christchurch.

Around 1916, Jessie relocated to Christchurch and it is understandable. She had 4 children, no husband, and living in a rural district with little support. Moving back to family in Christchurch would have made sense.

She remained in Christchurch for the rest of her life – at 267A Wainoni Road.

Jessie passed away on the 9 July 1964 at Belfast, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand
