Bertha was born at Greymouth on the 30 June 1907 and she attended Greymouth School in her youth.
On the 21 August 1941 at New Brighton in Christchurch, she married Henry “Harry” Dobson Harpur. Harry had been married earlier and there was one child from that marriage. The child would have been around 16 when Harry married Bertha.
After initially living at Greymouth, the couple moved to Hamilton in 1946 then, Te Awamutu and finally back to Hamilton. Harry acted as a warehouse storeman and supervisor
There were no children from the union.
Bertha passed away at Hamilton on the 21 October 1982 and her remains are to be found in Hamilton Park Cemetery, Hamilton.
Henry passed away 10 years later on the 10 December 1992 and his remains are buried in the same cemetery as his wife.
