Thomas was born in 1865 at Christchurch. Like many of his siblings and wider family, he elected to follow a similar path.
On the 26 November 1886, Thomas married Sarah Willoughby at Auckland. Together, they had the following children.

Shortly after marrying Sarah, the couple moved to the Morrinsville district where Thomas functioned as a labourer.
Sadly, Thomas passed away on the 10 June 1902 at Morrinsville. His remains are interred in the Morrinsville Cemetery.
Sarah passed away on the 27 August 1926 and her remains are in the Matamata Cemetery.
