Roscena was born on the 29 November 1901 at Mataura, Southland, New Zealand.
She attended Middlemarch & Nightcaps Schools in Southland; South Belt & East Christchurch Schools and High Street school in Dunedin. Her father’s demise and then her mother’s need to move saw her move around a lot in her childhood.
Roscena married Ernest James Baghurst on the 5 May 1927 at Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand. There was one child from that union.

Sadly, at a very young age, Roscena passed away on the 02 November 1929 at Wellington, New Zealand. She is buried in an unmarked grave in Karori Cemetery in Plot: “*Ch Eng 2/K/112”.
Her husband is buried in the same cemetery, albeit in a different plot. He remarried in 1932 and passed in 1949.
