Born on the 14 November 1902 at Nightcaps, Southland, New Zealand, Mary was the second child and second daughter. She attended High Street Dunedin, Middlemarch, South Town Belt Christchurch and East Christchurch Schools.

Mary passed away on the 8 November 1974 at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand
Cyrus passed away in 1987. Both are buried in Christchurch at Waimairi Cemetery.
