Bill was born on the 3 April 1904 at Otautau, Southland, New Zealand. He was only 3 years old when his father died and only 12 when his mother passed away. His childhood would have been difficult.
He married Eva Theodora Connelly on the 29 Apr 1939 at Martinborough in the Wairarapa. There were no children from the union.
On the 18 Nov 1960 Bill passed away at Wellington, New Zealand and is buried in Karori Cemetery
Eva remarried (Mudge) and is buried at Palmerston North.
