Neville was born on the 17 July 1920 at Featherston, Wairarapa, New Zealand and it would be fair to say he found a calling that remained with him his entire life. Namely the Salvation Army. From the earliest public record I have, which is 1941, he is named as a SA Officer.
He married Bernice Joan Fairbrother in 1942 at Featherston, Wairarapa, New Zealand
Together they raised a family and continued their work together in the Salvation Army. Neville was also a registered marriage celebrant.
From that union stemmed 5 children, all of whom are living as of Aug 2026.
Bernice sadly left for a different calling in 1994.
In 1996, Neville married Marjorie Knight nee Best. The couple spent the next 10 years living together. Neville passed on the 27 July 2006 age 86 at Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, surrounded by his family. Marjorie was also a lifetime part of the Salvation Army, having entered the faith in 1947.
Sadly, Neville and son Ray were going to visit me in Nelson to discuss family history, but Neville passed away a few days before the flight. I remain saddened by that fact.
Marjorie passed away in 2024 at Hamilton, aged 94 and is buried with her first husband.
