Nell was born on the 8 Apr 1872 at Waianakarua, Waitaki.
She came into the world with blond hair, while all her siblings as seen from above have dark hair, or in the case of Neil, less hair.
On the 21 Apr 1904, Nell married Robert Hogg Hutton. Robert stemmed from a local family and was a farmer around Waianakarua.

Nell passed away on the 6 Apr 1969 and is buried in Otepopo Cemetery alongside her husband in a family plot. Robert predeceased her by over 20 years, having passed in 1946.
